2 days ago was Indigenous Peoples Day. It can't be forgone the story of Leonard Peltier a wrongfully convicted Lakota man accused of supposedly murdering 2 corrupt FBI agents during the AIM movement of the 1970s.
There's a documentary by Netflix that addresses the disparity of Indigenous American individuals ranging from the boarding schools, the banning of our cultures, language, the maltreatment by law enforcement of several levels, etcetera etcetera.
Our peoples of any nation have consistently been criminalized by the US government and frequently broader society that search for an excuse. There was a memoir I posted of prior titled "In The Spirit of Crazy Horse" of what factually occured during the AIM movement recounting that the US Government was totally the wrong. Our peoples have habitually been forced to resist colonization, self defense, base human rights, etc.
